DR. GIRISH KUMAR NAGPAL –
MY GOD, MY VISIONARY
Dr Girish Kumar Nagpal was born on 7th May 1957 to Shri G. S. Nagpal and Mrs Mohinder Rani Nagpal in Tundla, Uttar Pradesh. He was the 3rd born child of his parents. Siblings were an elder sister, an elder brother and 2 younger brothers.
Dr Girish Kumar Nagpal, an eminent ophthalmologist, N-3874, completed his MBBS, MS (Ophthalmology) from Institute of Ophthalmology, Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh in 1984. His thesis was on comparison between various filtering surgeries done in glaucoma, under the supervision of Prof Hameeda. Worked as fellow at Shroff Charity Eye Hospital and Dr Nagpal Retina foundation. Joined Gandhi Eye Hospital and worked and remained associated with Dr JM Pahwa till 1993.
In between, he also attained FICO fellowship from Japan. Was pioneer in starting IOL implantation in cataract surgeries in Gandhi Eye Hospital, Aligarh. Conducted numerous camps various cities of Punjab (BEAS), Uttar Pradesh, Patna.
He came into private practice in December 1993 in Aligarh. He did free eye camps at his clinic for various NGOs (Lions Club, Rotary Club), Freedom fighters, performed thousands and thousands of cataract surgeries during these camps. Was popular far and wide for his selfless services and warm gesture towards his patients. His day started from 4 am (sometimes 3 am even), with his spiritual Radhasoami meditation, followed by his early morning operations routine till 8 am in the morning.
